MUSIC FOR MANKIND® TEAMS UP WITH BROC; CONCERT PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT RUTLAND AND BENNINGTON COUNTIES
BENNINGTON VT. With the amount of success from the efforts of its local participants, Music For Mankind ® founder Kelly Moore is reaching out to extend the Music For Mankind® outside Manchester County to Rutland and Bennington Counties through BROC, where a portion of proceeds from future benefit concerts will go to the organization.
BROC is an organization covering southwestern Vermont, dedicated to supporting and educating individuals and families to be self-sufficient through family stabilization and development education, training and job creation.
Kelly states "I became aware of BROC as an organization that is doing many, many things to help it's communities. I think it's fantastic that we are able to help them in their endeavors for their communities."
We are grateful for Mr. Moore's interest in our food program." says BROC Community Services and Outreach Program Manager Elizabeth Eddy. "We provide more than 8,000 food shelf assists each year, but our demand has sharply increased recently due to the spiraling costs of food, fuel and housing. Most of our clients are families with small children, so the need to support the most vulnerable among us is very acute. Hunger weakens entire communities - children who are hungry do not perform as well in school, and also suffer more behavioral and physical health problems, so we are committed to keeping our food shelves stocked."
Recently Kelly created the Music For Mankind® Charity Food Drive in Manchester, Vermont, where various schools and businesses allowed Kelly's organization to put out boxes for the collection of food for the holiday season. The Food Drive was so successful that it has been extended through the winter months. Plans are being made to expand the effort in the coming months.
Kelly Moore & Emerald Dreams have been performing over the last year at various venues across Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts where proceeds have fed over 12,000 children in the Sudan area through the United Nations World Food Program as well as various local and regional charities. Kelly has been interviewed two times on WCAX TV's "Across The Fence", Vermont Public Radio, and has been featured in various local and regional papers for his efforts. A promotional video is currently airing on community access television in Manchester and surrounding areas covering over 12,000 households, with the future airing on the Starfish Television on Dish Network later this month.
Music For Mankind® encourages other businesses to participate by allowing them to place a box in their stores, and can be contacted at 802-362-3806. or at www.musicformankind.net
