MANCHESTER VT: Contemporary folk singer, guitarist and composer Kelly Moore has been invited by the WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program) to represent his organization and as acting UN delegate to the Andes Mountains in Peru on a mission to see how monetary efforts from his benefit concert series and those from the Friends of the World Food Program have been successfully utilized. The 5-day trip will begin on March 15th.

“For me it's an incredible honor to work with, and help the WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program).” states Moore “To be invited as a UN Delegate to Peru is a huge honor for me, and I'm really excited about all that we will get to see and experience there.”

“Kelly Moore’s dedication and enthusiasm to this cause has been highly beneficial to our work,” said Karen Sendelback, former President and CEO, WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program). “Through his efforts, we raised awareness and funds to help feed hungry people all over the world.”

There's a new video about Music For Mankind®. You can view it here.

“We are thrilled that Kelly Moore will be joining us on this trip,” said Margot Hoerrner, former Vice President of Outreach, WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program). “This experience will provide him with a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the people he has worked so hard to help.”

Moore had also volunteered his time to the WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program) as a US Delegate for the WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program) to Nicaragua in July 2008, where he had made a substantial impact on the children in the regions most hit by hunger, and was able to deliver first hand the results of the contributions taken in by his foundation.

Recently, Moore released his music album “Silently Hoping” where a portion of proceeds from the sale of the album goes to the WFP USA (formerly Friends of the World Food Program) and other humanitarian organizations as well as local food cupboards.  The title track of the album was inspired by his experiences with the children he met in Nicaragua.  The CD hit the Top 100 charts for radio airplay in World music, debuting at #59 and has climbed steadily, now sitting at #37.

Moore also released a music video of the title track, and it has been viewed on the internet over 900 times, and can be viewed here.

Since its inception in late 2006, Music For Mankind® has been able to feed over 32,000 people, over 24,000 of them children, in various local and regional areas of Vermont, as well as remote countries across the globe.
