FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: 1/2/08 CHARITY FOOD DRIVE MAJOR SUCCESS FOR VERMONT, EXTENDED THROUGH WINTER MONTHS.
Kelly states: "The response to the food drive was much more than expected. The people here really came through in support of the community-at-large. I'm so inspired by the response that I plan to do more of these throughout the rest of the winter. January and February are just as cold as December, and these folks will need help then, too." The Food Drive initially put out a total of 7 empty boxes and received 20 boxes in return. "We are so grateful for Kelly's support and enthusiasm! We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kelly and everyone who contributed food. This time of year is very hard for many families in our area, gas and utility costs consume a larger portion of people's take home pay, and families are left with very little to buy food. The van-full of food that Kelly delivered to our door will help many of our neighbors through these cold winter months." Kelly gives a very special thanks to local businesses and organizations that had participated during the Holiday season and continue to do so. Those participants include: Maple Street School, Burr and Burton Academy Music Department, (Neil Freebern's Orchestra Room, and Choral Director Julie Freebern's Choral Room), Manchester Elementary Middle School, The Magic Sleigh, and the Porter House of Fine Crafts. Kelly Moore & Emerald Dreams have been performing over the last year at various venues across Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts where proceeds have fed over 12,000 children in the Sudan area through the United Nations World Food Program as well as various local and regional charities. Kelly has been interviewed two times on WCAX TV's "Across The Fence", Vermont Public Radio, and has been featured in various local and regional papers for his efforts. A promotional video is currently airing on community access television in Manchester and surrounding areas covering over 12,000 households, with the future airing on the Starfish Television on Dish Network later this month. Music For Mankind ® encourages other businesses to participate by allowing them to place a box in their stores, and can be contacted at 802-362-3806. or at www.musicformankind.net PHOTO: Pictured from left to right: President of the Board of Directors of the Manchester Community Food Cupboard Sally Brown, Musician/ Music For Mankind® founder Kelly Moore. |
