FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LOCAL MUSICIAN AND CHARITY FOUNDER CREATES
CHARITY FOOD DRIVE TO BENEFIT LOCALS IN NEED.
MANCHESTER VT. In his efforts to his local community, guitarist Kelly Moore, founder of Music For Mankind® and leader of the musical group Kelly Moore & Emerald Dreams, has created the Music For Mankind® Community Charity Drive, where proceeds will go to the Manchester Food Cupboard. The Music For Mankind® Community Charity Drive is currently putting out boxes in locations across the valley to help aid those in need for the holidays. Kelly states: "We have been raising awareness of those in need for over a year now with our Music For Mankind® concerts in the Vermont area and our proceeds have been helping those in need overseas. Now with the holidays upon us, we wanted to extend our efforts to our local area on a personal level." "We are truly thankful to have Kelly's support." says Martha Carey, Manager of the Manchester Community Food Cupboard. "This is a critical time for the Community Food Cupboard. The holidays and the cold weather mean that many new families will be looking to us for assistance, and our resources are scarce. This food drive will help us to keep up with the increasing need and hopefully will raise awareness about local hunger and the work we do at CFC." Local organizations participating for the Thanksgiving holiday include the Burr and Burton Academy Music Department, which will have drop-off boxes at Orchestra Music Director Neil Freebern's Orchestra Room, and Choral Director Julie Freebern's Choral Room. Organizations and businesses participating for the Christmas holiday include Northshire Book Store, Burr and Burton Academy Music Department, Manchester Elementary Middle School, Maple Street School, The Magic Sleigh, and the Porter House of Fine Crafts. Kelly Moore & Emerald Dreams have been performing over the last year at various venues across Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts where proceeds have fed over 12,000 children in the Sudan area through the United Nations World Food Program as well as various local and regional charities. Kelly has been interviewed twice on WCAX TV (CBS) "Across The Fence", Vermont Public Radio, and has been featured in various local and regional papers for his efforts. Music For Mankind® encourages other businesses to participate by allowing them to place a box in their stores, and can be contacted at 802-362-3806. or at www.musicformankind.net PHOTO: Pictured from left to right: Musician/ Music For Mankind® founder Kelly Moore, Community Food Cupboard manager Martha Carey. |
